Since Chapaghetti was launched in 1984, it has been very popular for 30 years in Korea. It has been ranked in the top 10 instant noodle brands in the Korean market.

What is Chajangmyun?

Chapaghetti is based on Chajangmyun, which originated from Chinese Jah-Jiang Mian. Chajangmyun is a noodle dish made with a thick black bean sauce, diced pork or seafood, and vegetables. Chinese Jah-Jiang Mian has a distinct Chinese scent and salty flavor. Therefore, Koreans made their own unique style of Jah-Jiang Mian by reducing the salty flavor and enhancing sweet taste.
Chajangmyun has been one of Korean’s favorite noodle dishes for many decades. In the past, Chajangmyun was so expensive for common people that it could be only enjoyed on special occasions like birthdays or graduation days. Children always looked forward for their birthday to eat Chajangmyun. Now, Chajangmyun is an everyday dish for Korean people. It is found in most Chinese restaurants and it is estimated that 7 million portions of Chajangmyun are served everyday!
